Canoe Tasmania will conduct a 2 day Sea Kayak Skills & Guiding Course from Greens Beach. (Note this is purely a training weekend, and NOT an AC Assessment weekend)
Affiliated Canoe Club members (DCC, TCC, TasCC): $150
This 2 day course will cover guiding skills, basics on boats, equipment, safety, weather, navigation, communications, group dynamics, surf & other tricky features. There may also be the option of rolling tuition based on experience/interest of the participants.
The course will commence at 9am on Saturday 15th March meeting at the Greens Beach Carpark and conclude by 4 pm each day. Google map link: http://goo.gl/maps/w20sh
Camping (lawn or floor space) at a holiday house at Deviot is an option for participants for Saturday night, which has kindly been offered by one of the instructors. This also provides a great opportunity for continued informal discussions around Sea Kayaking and related topics that evening. Directions will be provided on the day.
The aims of the course are to:
The course will conducted by Australian Canoeing qualified Advanced Sea Kayak Instructors, Phil Barratt and Claye Mace from Tamar Canoe Club.
Participants must have all of their own equipment and some prior sea kayak paddling experience.
Participants need to bring:
· Sea Kayak, paddle, PFD, spraydeck
· Cag or windproof spray jacket
· Suitable paddling footwear (wetsuit booties, sandals)
· Warm paddling clothing – 2 sets per day of next-to-body clothing is recommended so you don’t have to put on wet gear for a second paddling session
· Dry bag or sturdy plastic bag for stowage
· Topographic map of Greens Beach to Badger (for safety & instruction), waterproofed in map bag or laminated
· Any rescue gear and equipment you would normally carry
· Lunch, drinks and snacks
· Self-sufficient camping gear/food etc if staying over at the Deviot Holiday House on Saturday night – note there is limited immediate access to shops/food/accommodation, so participants need to be self-sufficient for each day.

Canoe Tasmania in conjunction with Tracy Gibson from Jervis Bay Kayak Co, and current Women's World Surf Kayak Champion, will conduct a 2 day Surf Kayak Skills Course from a venue close to Hobart depending on surf conditions forecast for the weekend (likely to be Clifton or Park Beach).
This is an exciting opportunity for paddlers of varying skill levels, to get some first class professional instruction in the dynamic sport of Surf Kayaking.
Affiliated Canoe Club Members (DCC, TCC, TasCC): $150

Times: 9 am - 4 pm Saturday, 8 am - 1 pm Sunday.
This 2 day progressive course will include:
The course will commence at 9 am on Saturday 5th April. Participants will be advised closer to the date the exact meeting venue depending on surf conditions.
The course will be conducted by Tracy Gibson from Jervis Bay Kayak Co. Tracy is the current Women's World Surf Kayak Champion and also an Australian Canoeing qualified Sea Kayak Instructor and AC Assessor. Leigh Wighton from Kayak 4 Play (AC qualified Whitewater Instructor, Whitewater Rescue 2 and AC Assessor) will be assisting.
Participants must have all their own equipment (there may be some limited options to hire some gear), and some prior kayak paddling experience in moving water.
